  1. No you are missing the point and missing it completely. You may as well watch football.
30 points and none from skill all from mistakes and than a free shot at goal. I have always thought Union fans had no taste or discernment and you illustrate that completely. A zero try 10 penalty borefest. You don’t know what real rugby is do you?

  2. Your missing the point. Although the only points came from penalties it was still an exciting game, Courtney Lawes played outstanding. Your dont need a 100 try fest match for it to be considered good.

  3. and I have just had a look at the match you offer as indication of RU workload. The Northampton website itself offers a run down of the excitement quoting 10 penalties, 1 penalty miss, 1 missed DG and one yellow card. No Tries!!!! A 10 penalty score fest. Northamptons own so called director of Rugby and I quote ” It would have been nice to score 4 tries but we couldn’t break them down”. Aka we don’t have to play this game with any ability to score tries we can rely on the boot.

  4. Well I’m afraid the stats tell it all RL tackle count averages of 4 to 5 x more in RL in some positions and 3x as many in games. That show in comparative seasons in the NRL and S14’s 2009. And anecdotally from Jonathan Davis in the non too cryptic answer to the question what’s the biggest difference between RL and RU, ” well I was never cold playing Rugby League”. Sorry but the facts ruin your belief, you never had an argument.

  5. Low workload? I have actually watched league, have you even watched union? Or did you hate it automatically because you grew up in a ‘league culture’. Find the highlights of Northampton Saints vs Castre from the weekend, pretty much ruins your argument.

  6. @nszxenh Yup this website is just giving out free White Apple iPad 4’s for today only. You have to be from the U.S though but it’s all real, I claimed mine just before. Better hurry up! bit.ly/VDDFrc?=srzjp

  7. Nothing simpler than kicking out on the full nothing easier than not having to tackle and perform the simplest passing demands and having very low work loads which typifies Union. Nothing simpler than head down look at the floor pushing and shoving and passing the ball on the floor while lying down. You show 35 minutes of play out of 80 that is pedestrian, slow, uneventful and mediocre. It’s almost as if Union was designed for schoolboys and by schoolboys, oh wait yes it was!

  8. No RL was alienated from schools in order to favour U and curtail RL expansion. It did not work in Australia which is why RU is not as popular there. Rugby League is the sport designed and played by those who took sport seriously aka sportsmen and not those who saw it as a distraction over the weekend as in union aka schoolboys. Rugby League does not tolerate acts of non competition and poor skill unfortunately RU has no choice as the game can’t work without them and is laughable with them.

  9. They both can be played at exactly the same places, union is just preferred. The skills are way more complex, league is a working class sport, upon creation it was designed with few and simple rules so the poorer and illiterate section of society could understand it. Usually the simpler the sport the more popular it is (football is a great example). Yet in rugby its the other way around because league is a pointless, ping pong style game.

  10. The Sydney Roosters don’t put on big hits do they? This video was 100% not bias. *Sarcasm.* If anything the Roosters put more big hits on every year than any other team.

  11. If you learn how to tackle then you wouldn’t need to rely on cheap shots. There’s no skill involved in shoulder charging someone to be honest. Good riddance.

  12. So RU can be played in more places than RL and the skills are more simple than RL. You think that may have had something to do with the fact that Union is a schoolboy game played in schools to the exclusion of RL and Union players were banned from playing RL ? I think so.

  13. Table Tennis, ok in western countries where both codes are played, union is the more popular code. Football is always going to be popular because it can be played anywhere and the rules are simple. League is a simple game yet union is more popular, im done. So only the hooker can get injured? No thats why scrums turn, because one person is getting more screwed than the other. I a hooker is getting smashed, his props will too.

  14. You are right about the interchanges! Even the current 10 (RFL) is too many, half of that would change the dynamic in favour of the playmakers.

  15. And Football is more popular than Union and frankly so is table tennis so what does that say? Scrums are unsafe simply type in “Unsafe scrums” and behold more than enough evidence. How can the hooker go backwards if the props, locks and all the other doorstops are pushing him forward, Does the scrum have telekinetic powers of communication?

  16. And thats not what Brian Moore noted Union ex player and Telegraph commentator.and I quote from oct 2012 “The IRB published a report compiled over 3 years in South Africa and Bath University……The scrum creates a situation that has the potential to create sub critical injuries to the cervical and sub lumbar regions of the spine…. If the IRB does not act on these impartial findings they will have no legal and moral ground in the courts”. The real facts!

  17. If you compare 1995 to 2013 the increase in force in the scrum has obviously increased. Scrums arent unsafe, its the attitude created by professionialism that the players have. Most flawed of sports? Yet it is far more popular than league, there is clearly a reason for that. Disengage? its called going backwards.

  18. No they promote collapse as delaying tactics and a measure to give away only a penalty rather than more points from a try. Professionalism is not responsible for any element of RU game play what so ever. Scrums were unsafe from day one. If any player has a problem in the scrum there is nothing he can do, it is almost impossible for the hooker and front row to disengage once the push is on. Another example off the huge number of problems in this most flawed of sports.

  19. They don’t promote collapse, it is a side effect. Professionalism has ruined the scrums, front rows are heavier and never wont to go backwards because they are paid to go forwards. Its the attitudes of the players that make some scrums unsafe. Anybody in any sport is prone to injury, look at NFL, how many players get ankle/knee injuries?

  20. JESUS CHRIST – God Himself came into this world, He died for our sins, He was buried, and God the Father raised Him from the dead, and through His Sacrifice we live in victory – JESUS CHRIST IS LORD !

  21. Nonsense! You can’t say if only everything goes according to plan everyone will be ok. Game play in scrums promote collapse, props and hookers are injured regardless usually to the neck. The SC stats don’t lie and all tackles by their very nature are designed to hurt the player.
